Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

March, which is named after a Roman god, Mars, who idolized the concepts of conquest and heroism and fought mercilessly for their emperor. He was an icon for patriotism and heroic actions. The Roman Empire would honor this god in March as they began to step into their spring season. Mars also governed fertility and agriculture which would help sustain the population and he encouraged animals and people to procreate at this time. Spiritually March is a time to take action without thoughts and inspirations, a time for advancement and moving forward.

The Crystal Council embraces the beauty of specimens that are created by the universe and placed within the earth for all to see and feel. However, there is also beauty around us that can be destroyed in an instant with the element of Fire. This element can be both creative and destructive and unlike other elements, it does not exist in a natural state. Its physical form can only take place by consuming some other elements. It is a transformer converting the energy of other objects into other forms-heat, light, ash, and smoke.

This element showed it’s destructive side during the summer months in Australia when brushfires affected its natural beauty, one area in particular, Kangaroo Island. Kangaroo Island is Australia’s third-largest island located off the coast of South Australia. In December 2019 -January 2020 the Island was effected by 2 major Brushfires within a week that affected 48% of the Island, 519,000 acres. A quarter of the Island is conserved in National Parks and it has 5 wilderness protection areas. It had a population of 50,000 Koalas and there is said to be only half that have survived. We would like to shine a light on Hanson Bay Wild Life Sanctuary.

Hanson Bay is a 5,000-acre wildlife conservancy. The animals there must be able to survive on their own, in the wild, having a population of Koalas, Tammar Wallabies, Kangaroos, bats echidnas, and Bush-Stone-Curlews. Fire consumed many of their buildings, including the Visitors Centre, the staff accommodation, volunteers/backpackers quarters, the koala walk, wallaby walk and much of the grassland. They are providing supplemental feeding for the koalas a few times a week and are participating in an aerial food drop program for those animals who survived. Over 700 native animals were buried at Hanson Bay and severely injured animals were taken to veterinary triage or were humanely euthanized in the days immediately following the fire.

SO how do we tie together the Roman god Mars, the spiritually of March and the fire element? We do this through Crystalized Malachite. This beauty is known as a “growth crystal” and is a powerful conduit of earth’s life force of birth, development, and creation, and the power of nature’s constant renewal. It personifies the deep healing green of nature and represents the beauty of flowers, roots, trees, and plants. It is a transformation stone assisting one in changing situations and providing spiritual growth. 100% of all proceeds from the purchase of the Crystalized Malachite will go to Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in Australia.
