Save The Elephants Fund

Hello everyone! After successfully launching our Charity Stone of The Month in July, we are excited to reveal our next charity.

August 12th is World Elephant Day, and we wanted to spotlight the Elephant poaching crisis by dedicating the entire month of August to raise awareness to this much-needed cause.

Approximately 100,000 elephants in Africa were killed for their ivory in 3 years between the years 2010 and 2012. Africa's human population is set to double by 2050 and without urgent action to save this species, elephants could disappear from the wild within a single generation.

Why We Need Elephants

Elephants are intelligent creatures with complex levels of consciousness with a profound role in human cultures as well as African ecosystems.

  • When Elephants feed, they create gaps and crevices in vegetation. These pockets allow new plants to grow for smaller animals to feed on.

  • One of the major ways tree disperse their seeds is through elephants... some species rely entirely on Elephants for seed dispersal.

  • Elephants use their tusks to dig for water during dry African seasons, they provide water for other animals during these dry times.

  • They play an important role in maintaining the biodiversity of the ecosystem in which they live.

Elephants Spiritually

Elephants represent wisdom, fertility, good luck and most of all, protection. Having an elephant in your home with its trunk raised is believed to attract good fortune, almost as if it showering your home and life with positive energy.

Save The Elephants Fund

Their mission is to secure a future for elephants and to sustain the beauty and ecological integrity of the places they live; to promote man’s delight in their intelligence and the diversity of their world, and to develop a tolerant relationship between the two species. Save The Elephants involve local people in research and education to develop a conservation ethic based on local knowledge and elephant needs, and recognize that the best ambassadors for elephants are the people with whom they share their land.

With your $5.00 donation, you will be helping protect them through the Save The Elephants charity.
