Boy Scouts Save Woman from Drowning
Boy Scouts Rescue woman from drowning in Missouri
floodwaters
Two Boy Scouts, aged 15 and 16, saved a woman who was
clinging to a basketball hoop that was almost completely submerged in
floodwaters. Massive rainfalls flooded parts of Columbia, Missouri last week
causing dangerous conditions.
Both Scouts, along with a few friends were walking through
the neighborhood and heard screams for help. They saw a woman in a bathing
suit, “clinging to a basketball hoop that was nearly entirely submerged in
floodwaters.”
These individuals knew immediately that they had to step in
to help. They jumped into the water and swam to the woman where they had her
grab onto their shoulders because her legs were cramping. They doggy-paddled
back to shore against currents that were trying to pull them down. The woman
was brought safely ashore before coughing up water.
The Assistant Fire Chief was quoted as saying “These two
young boy scouts come by and heard the distress calls…for two 15 and 16 year
olds to react that way, it was very heroic.”
Be the change you want to see!
