DJ Raises Money to Help Fix Man's Truck
Radio DJ Helps Raise Money to Fix Broken Truck of 20 year old Who Walks 6 Hours to Work Each Day
A local Chicago area DJ by the name of Ray Stevens happened to be driving by an individual named Braxton Mayes and noticed after multiple times, that Braxton walks a long time.
It was after one of Steven's drive bys that he actually pulled over and asked Mayes if he needed a ride. It was at this point where Stevens got the whole story.
Mayes told Stevens that his 2006 truck had broken down and since he still needed to get to work, decided to walk. This walk is a 12 mile journey that takes 3 hours each way! Mayes explained to the DJ that he would leave for work at 4 a.m. in order to arrive on time at 7 a.m.
After Mayes told Stevens the story, Stevens decided to start a GoFundMe page in order for Mayes to get his truck fixed. As of right now, the fund has reached $8,000. Steven's has said that, "any additional money raised past the amount needed to repair the truck will be donated to local Chicago food banks."
Mayes' truck is almost done being repaired and until it is, his employer will give him a ride!
