Realtor Turns Abandoned Property into Homes for the Homeless

A Missouri realtor named Linda Brown has been determined to make her hometown a "city where no one sleeps outside."

Linda Brown and her husband David originally created a "nightly drop-in shelter" where homeless people in Springfield could eat, shower, do laundry, use a computer, and socialize. However, they were still searching for something more.

They set their sights on an abandoned mobile home property and converted it into a "village of tiny homes that provides permanent housing to the chronically disabled homeless."

The success of this transformation can be seen in the $4.75 million dollars that they have raised. This allowed them to open Eden Village in 2018 and erect 31 tiny homes.

However, this first sight is not the only one. Since this has been so successful, Eden Village 2 is already underway. It will house 24 residents and is almost done.

Furthermore, once this project is done, there will even be a third Eden Village. This village will have the capacity to hold 80 residents.

And even still, Linda is not satisfied! Brown also plans to have 2 more villages for a total of 5 to be spread across the city of Springfield, housing an estimated 200 homeless people!

With such a positive response, the city of Wilimgton, N.C. is taking after Linda! Be the change you want to see!
