Hydrophobic

Hydrophobic is a term well-described by its etymology, with “hydro-” being a prefix that means “water”, and “-philic” being a suffix meaning “fearful”. Hydrophobic species are often neutral in charge and do not favor interaction with water, hence repelling water molecules. Hydrophobic minerals of note include Galena, Sphalerite, Pyrite, Chalcopyrite, and Stibnite.
