Science & Origin of Pyromorphite

Pyromorphite, also historically called Traubenblei, is a rare lead chlorophosphate mineral that crystallizes in the form of masses, fibers, botryoidal, tabular crystals, and hexagonal prisms. Its rarest form is seeing it in its prismatic crystal structure. These specimens are barely ever found and can fetch tens of thousands of dollars. Pyromorphite is a member of the Apatite family and forms in heavy oxidized veins of lead ore. This mineral is usually found in a light green color, but can also be seen as white, brown, orange, yellow, and even colorless. Pyromorphite was first discussed in 1784 by M.H. Klaproth, but wasn’t named until 1813 by J.F.L. Hausman. He named the stone after the Greek words meaning “fire” and “form”. This name was chosen due to the form Pyromorphite takes once its melted down and cooled. Pyromorphite can be found in the USA, Australia, Germany, the UK, China, and Argentina.

It forms alongside a mineral called Mimetite, and was often categorized as Pyromorphite. They look very similar and share almost the exact same colors. It wasn’t until 1832 where the minerals were classified separately and the name “Mimetite” was chosen, meaning “imitater”.

Meaning & Energy

Pyromorphite is a stone that activates and links one solar plexus and heart chakra together. One’s will becomes infused with the love and passion we carry in our hearts, making any goal or desire become achievable. This stone takes the saying “if there’s a will, there’s a way” to the next level. One will find that inner strength, and determination within when working with this stone. Pyromorphite helps one channel this energy towards your current intentions and pushes one into action in pursuit of one’s dreams.

We recommend placing Pyromorphite over your heart during deep meditation sessions to help imbue ones entire body with transformative energy. Use this energy to help you focus your mind on your current intentions in life and be reminded of the inner strength you truly poses. You are the creator of your own universe, and your actions will directly affect your life. Pyromorphite will provide you with the “batteries” to help keep you going until you feel your quest is complete.

Pyromorphite has also been used as a talisman for dispelling any and all negative energies we may come in contact with. Simply wearing or carrying this stone will provide one with full protection from negative energies or environments.

Pyromorphite is a very high vibrational stone that may be too strong for beginning practitioners. If one is using this stone and begins to feel uncomfortable or light headed, we suggest placing the stone away and try again at another time. One can also surround themselves with grounding stones to help root them down to earth and provide protection from these extremely high energies.
