Rhodochrosite from China is a unique variety of Rhodochrosite that crystallizes in a slightly different way than localities from around the world. Most of the crystal habit is small clusters, disc-shaped crystals, or gemmy chunks in a black and white matrix. The color of the Rhodochrosite is darker than most deposits, with a more red color than the usual pink. Additionally, there is usually some presence of Pyrite near the Rhodochrosite crystals. The main deposit in China is the Wutong Mine, sometimes spelled as the Wudong Mine, but can also be found in the provinces of Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing, Fujian, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Sichuan, Xinjiang, Yunnan, and Zhejiang.
