Breche Agate, also known as Breccia Agate and Brecciated Agate, is a variety of agate that was crystallized, then broken apart through natural faults, impacts, or volcanic activity on Earth’s surface. The fragments are then reconstituted in a sedimentary rock, with this process taking millions of years. This is known as brecciation and is where the name Breche Agate or Breccia Agate originates from. Breche Agate is usually white with a brown matrix, but can also be red from iron inclusions. These pieces come from Madagascar, but can also be found wherever brecciation happens in the world.
