Chlorite on Quartz

Chlorite on Quartz

Science & Origin of Chlorite on Quartz

Chlorite on Quartz is a type of quartz with a chlorite coating that occurs after the crystallization of the stone. The quartz can crystallize as slender prismatic shards, singular prismatic crystals, or clusters of multiple types of quartz shapes. The color is usually pale green, but can also have brown hues of iron. The chlorite coating looks very powdery, as if it just covered the quartz, even though it probably occurred thousands of years ago. Chlorite on Quartz can be found all over the world, with major deposits in China, Nepal, France, Tibet, Canada, Brazil, Pakistan, India, and the USA. Most, if not all, of the material is sold raw, but we have seen pieces carved and polished in the form of double-terminated crystals.

Meaning & Energy

Most of the Quartz crystals that have been naturally coated in chlorite are usually 90%-95% covered, with the only point of reference of the quartz usually being where it was extracted from the matrix. This makes it difficult to see if there are any inclusions within the Quartz, which is problematic when trying to age the stone, as well as studying what other types of minerals and impurities were present while the formation was occurring.

Chlorite on Quartz

Chlorite on Quartz's unique energies not only create a visually striking stone but also merge the purifying properties of chlorite with the amplifying qualities of Quartz. Chlorite is renowned for its ability to cleanse your aura and chakras while promoting a detoxifying energy that helps release emotional wounds and old patterns. When combined with Quartz, the chlorite’s effects are enhanced, facilitating deeper healing and spiritual growth. This crystal is particularly useful for those seeking to connect with nature’s healing energies or for practitioners who wish to intensify their protective and cleansing rituals.

An important note to make about Chlorite on Quartz is how it can often absorb negative vibrations. Quartz is a vacuum cleaner for diluted vibrations that may attach to your aura and become harmful. Whether or not you use the Quartz that you own, it should be cleansed often. Even the piece passively sitting will attract unwanted energy. We recommend cleansing it by moonlight, with an incense tool, or with a water bath.
