Science & Origin of Fruit Jasper

Fruit Jasper, also known as Sabalgarh Marble, Ajooba Jasper, and Azubilite, is a type of Jasper conglomerate that crystallizes in massive formations. This stone has a unique appearance of a beige, tan, and brown chalcedony matrix with aggregates and nodules of different colored jaspers such as red, green, yellow, orange, and brown. The name comes from the resemblance to that of a fruitcake, with the original name of Sabalgarh Marble coming from the sourced locality in the Gora quarry at Sabalgarh in the Madhyar Pradesh state in India. Fruit Jasper has been used as a decorative stone for buildings throughout the late 19th century and early 20th century, but has not been sold as a crystal up until around the beginning of the 2000s. Since then it can be found polished in a variety of shapes such as palmstones, spheres, tumbled pocket pieces, towers, and jewelry.
