Science & Origin of Amphibole Quartz
Amphibole Quartz, also known as Angel Wing Phantom Quartz, is a variety of Quartz with amphibole inclusions; a group of inosilicate minerals with impurities of calcium, iron, aluminum and magnesium. The colors usually are red, brown, yellow, beige, and white, and form in unique patterns that are visible in high quality transparent quartz. Some formations are fibrous and wave like, which creates a landscape scenery pattern in the quartz very much similar to Lodolite (Garden Quartz). Some other impurities that can be found in Amphibole Quartz are Chlorite and Rutile, which shows a green mossy pattern and gold and silver rods, enhancing the aesthetic appeal and value. Amphibole Quartz is found in a few regions of Brazil, most notably the Bahia, and Minas Gerais states of the country. Other Quartz deposits can have amphibole inclusions, but they are very sparsely formed and are usually not sold in quantities on the market due to the low quality inclusions.
