Garnet in Staurolite in matrix is a combination mineral that crystallizes in massive formations. The pieces are unique and contain small and large red Garnet hexagonal and circle inclusions with elongated rod like impurities of brown Staurolite. This occurs on a Mica schist and can also contain small impurities of Blue Kyanite. The mineral has only been found near the Kinbasket Lake in British Columbia, Canada, located north of the small town of Revelstoke. To access this private claim, one must travel 60 km down a forestry road alongside the picturesque Kinbasket Lake. Due to the distance and dangerous weather conditions, each harvested piece is pulled by hand mining, with no mechanical means.
