Jaspillite, also known as Itabirite and Jasper Taconite, is a mineral composed of banded iron formations such as Hematite, Magnetite, Quartz, and Red Jasper. The crystallization took place during Earth’s formation 4 billion years ago, and can be found in igneous and metamorphic rocks as young as 500 millions years old. The color can depend on impurities within specific deposits of this mineral, with most having a red and metallic banding pattern as well as being very dense. Deposits of this mineral can be found all over the world, with large veins located in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Guyana, India, Mauritania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, and the U.S.A.
