Red Picasso Jasper

Red Picasso Jasper

Science & Origin of Red Picasso Jasper

Red Picasso Jasper, also known as Red Creek Jasper, Cherry Creek Jasper, and Picasso Jasper, or Picasso Stone, is a variety of Red Jasper that crystallizes in massive formations. The stone has Red Jasper with brecciated inclusions of Quartz, Chalcedony, and Dolomite, and ranges in a variety of colors such as yellow, green, orange, red, blue, and brown. The original deposit is believed to come from China, in the Cherry Creek mine, near Red River. Red Jasper with similar inclusions can also be found in South Africa, Peru, and Utah, but these stones are slightly different and, in our opinion, should not be called Red Picasso Jasper. The stone was recently discovered in the 2010s and is sold as rough, but also polished into a variety of shapes such as palmstones, bracelets, cabochons, tumbled, hearts, spheres, and more.

Protection

For protection stones to use in conjunction with Red Jasper, we recommend Black Kyanite, Black Moonstone, Jet, Onyx , and Shungite. All of these stones play a vital role in keeping our spirit alive and well. Remember to constantly cleanse your stones (except Black Kyanite) and release them of any negative energies they may have picked up throughout the day.
