Desert Jasper, also known as Sunset Jasper, is a variety of Jasper that crystallizes in massive formations. The stone is made up of Red Jasper and Yellow Jasper that formed together, and is named after the colors of a beautiful sunset that can be seen in the desert. This Jasper is found on a cattle ranch in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, and is usually sold as raw pieces to lapidary professionals. Most of the material on the market is cut and slabbed into jewelry pieces, although we have noticed an increase in tumbled and polished pieces being sold to practitioners.
