Science & Origin of Mugglestone
Mugglestone is a variety of Tiger Iron, a stone that contains Tiger Eye, Red Jasper, and Hematite. This combination crystallizes in massive formation with a banded pattern that distinguishes each stone’s individual creation layer. The name comes from a deposit of Tiger Iron that was found in the U.K. in the 11th century near the town of Mucklestone, where the name is believed to have originated from. As of recently, Mugglestone has been designated for a majority of Tiger Iron that comes out of South Africa. The reason for this is not exactly clear, although it is believed the naming of these localities was to reimagine and distinguish the difference in Tiger Iron from South Africa and the rest of the world.
